Introduction: Vascular dark circles are a common aesthetic concern in young women, characterized by a bluish or violaceous discoloration of the periorbital area, associated with anatomical and vascular factors. Microneedling has emerged as an effective therapeutic option; however, comparative evidence between available devices remains limited.
Objective: To compare the efficacy of Dermapen versus Dermaroller in the treatment of vascular dark circles in women aged 25 to 30 years.
Materials and Methods: Observational, descriptive, and comparative study conducted in 30 patients treated at a private aesthetic clinic in Asunción in 2024. Participants were divided into two groups according to the device used (Dermapen or Dermaroller). Clinical variables, post-treatment improvement, adverse effects, and patient satisfaction were evaluated. Descriptive statistics were applied.
Results: Both treatments showed clinical improvement; however, the Dermapen group demonstrated a higher proportion of excellent improvement (67% vs 40%). Dermaroller was associated with a higher frequency of erythema and edema. Patient satisfaction was higher in the Dermapen group (73% excellent vs 47%).
Conclusion: Microneedling is an effective option for the treatment of vascular dark circles. Dermapen demonstrated greater clinical efficacy and better tolerability, positioning it as the preferred option in aesthetic practice.
